Carvention IV - The first classic car show of the year

In only its 4th year, Carvention - presented by JC Hackett, is the newest indoor car shows in the Salt Lake City area. Over 150 local car owners bring the out the finest classic cars, trucks and motorcycles to the 3 day show. The show is the first car show of the year on the calendar and signals the start of the car show season.

Carvention IV will be held from February 23 through the 25th at the Salt Lake County Fairgrounds in South Jordan Utah. The venue affectionately known by locals as the "Cow Palace" undergoes an almost miraculous transformation for the show. Normally used for rodeos, the fairgrounds building starts out with a smoothed out dirt floor with a plastic barrier over it. Then a heavy duty plastic floor is locked into place, and finally carpet is installed just in time for the hundreds of incredible classic cars, muscle cars and vintage vehicles to roll in and set up their displays.

The show provides a fun, family friendly atmosphere and includes a weekend full of music, vendors, painters and local pin strippers. Scheduled to attend is Hondo John and the DNR band who plays a whole myriad of classic rock tunes. Vendors include Rat Fink Collectibles, NAPA Auto Parts, Intermountain Transmission, Hot Rod Time, Mountain West Street News and many many more. Pinstripers will be on hand all weekend laying down some incredible paint lines on everything from bowling pins, panels and cars.

Along with the all of the art created by the talented pinstripers and painters, a Blues Brothers style cop car complete with a siren and light bar will be up for auction on Saturday evening along with a pedal car designed and built by the students of Salt Lake Community College and their instructor Honda John.

Money raised from the auction and over the weekend will benefit the Utah 1033 Foundation. The foundation provides immediate financial support to the families of our fallen Utah law enforcement officers. Previous years donation have surpassed $20,000 for the shows charity organization.
