I'm thinking of organizing a car show. It will be a benefit show. I think I have a place and can line up music. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding what I should think of? I'm looking at things like publicity, awards, dash plaques and so on. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thank you, Steve, but only a LOT! I'm on the right track -- a lot of this is already under consideration. I'm doing this with my church, but I'm the point man. Your comments really help!

Candace and I attend to so many shows that it's almost second nature, but you really don't think about all of the work and money that goes into putting on a successful show.

Having put together some big shows, and helping to put together many more, here's a little bit of info I can think of:

Dash plaques - Depending on the size of your show, or how many you think will come, most people are buying about 100 dash plaques or so.

Awards - these can range from a wood plaque, a tradition trophy or something completely different like parts welded together and painted.

Other important things to consider are:
Insurance, you seriously don't want to have to pay medical bills if someone trips on a cord, knocks their knee on a bumper or falls down. Insurance is relatively inexpensive considering the possibilities. We don't do ANY shows without it!

Publicity - You can list the show right here on Hot Rod Time. You can always come back in and update the event with more information, add photos, videos, details etc. We can certainly help you get the word out about the show. You can also put flyers in the promoters racks (JC, Barb, Blaine & Jill). You can post the event on social media also (Facebook, Twitter etc)

Porta-potties'
Sign in forms
Windows cards
Signage, banners etc.
Ez-Ups or some sort of shade
Tables
Raffle or auction items

Hope this helps a little bit. I'm sure other will chime in also.
