Maryland Historic Vehicle Registration Bills Likely to be Set Aside for Summer Study The SEMA Action Network has learned that the Maryland House Environmental Matters Committee will likely not take further action this year on legislation (H.B. 550) that originally threatened to further limit the use of “historic motor vehicles.”  A final action could be taken today (March 8, 2012) to set the bill aside for a summer study.  The Senate will follow suit.  Often, these studies are where bad bills go to die.  However, we have committed to Del. Kirill Reznik that we will continue to participate in efforts to help enact an amended version of H.B. 550 next year that will allow these vehicles to continue to be eligible for the historic class upon their 20th year; not require collector insurance policies and retain the “occasional use” provision.  Make no mistake about it; this decision by the committee represents...

Street Rod and Custom Vehicle Bill Reintroduced in New Jersey A version of SEMA model legislation (A.B. 2636) that would create a vehicle registration classification for street rods and replica custom vehicles and provide for special license plates for these vehicles was reintroduced in the New Jersey Assembly.  Last year, comparable legislation was not enacted into law in New Jersey prior to the legislature’s adjournment.  A.B. 2626 defines a street rod as an altered vehicle manufactured before 1948 and a custom as an altered vehicle at least 25 years old and manufactured after 1948.  The bill allows kit cars and replica vehicles to be assigned a certificate of title bearing the same model year designation the body of the vehicle most closely resembles.   We Urge You to Contact All Members of the Assembly Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities Committee (List Attached Below) Immediately to Request Their Support for A.B. 2636...

Hawaii Resolutions Seek Recognition for “COLLECTOR CAR APPRECIATION DAY” Two resolutions (H.R. 44/H.C.R. 63) have been introduced in the Hawaii House of Representatives by Rep. Karen Awana seeking recognition by the state for July 13, 2012 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.”  Earlier this year, the SEMA Action Network (SAN) announced this date to mark the third commemoration in what has become an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.  SAN is again working to secure a U.S. Congressional resolution to recognize the day’s significance. In the previous two years, thousands of Americans have gathered at car cruises, parades and other events to celebrate our nation’s automotive heritage.  By taking part in these events around the country, these automotive enthusiasts and related businesses ensured that their passion was honored and recognized. SAN is maintaining a list of scheduled events to commemorate America’s...

We Urge You to Contact the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Members (List Attached) Immediately To Request Their Support for H.B. 4068 West Virginia law defines an "Antique motor vehicle" to mean any motor vehicle which is more than twenty-five years old and is owned solely as a collector's item.  The law defines a “Classic Motor Vehicle” as...

OK, so here goes a rant and ramble on one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. Some might say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, some may say it's plagiarism, the lawyers say it's a intellectual property violation, some say it's copyright violation. I say HOLY CRAP somebody ripped off my website! The whole damn thing. Not just a few words, not a couple of graphics, the whole damn thing. Now this is not Hot Rod Time, but a site and business I developed several years ago when I was trying to figure out what to do in life. It was a computer repair business where we'd go onsite and do some repairs, some upgrades and the ever popular nasty bugs and virus removal and listen to the husband (and wife sometimes :)) say I don't have any idea how that porn got on our computer,...

Well the long wait to complete all the body and paint work is over. It took a long time but that was my vault. When I saw the ability of the Christian Brothers Shop in Garland, Texas I kept increasing the scope of their work and they answered every challenge with over the top innovation and quality…great job guys!! We drove the car out of the body shop onto the transport and they delivered it straight to the interior shop…close to completion…very close. Watch my photo galleries and videos for past and current progress.   ...

Have you ever wondered what the different series of Flowmaster mufflers sound like? Flowmaster makes a huge array of mufflers and trying to find out how they compare without buying them all and trying them one at a time could make you nauseous and poor in an instant. I've found a cool video where they have done the comparison for us, several muffler series one at a time on the same vehicle, each tested, each recorded. Take a look. ...

The new law defines a street rod as an altered vehicle manufactured before 1949 and a custom as an altered vehicle at least 25 years old and manufactured after 1948. So I would like to enlist your assistance. As you can probably see, Hot Rod Time is growing. That's a very good thing, but here's the problem, I'M GREEDY, I always want more. Whether it be more speed, more horsepower, more torque, more shine, or in this case, more members. I sincerely believe that HRT has the best members on this World Wide Web thingy. So first I would like to personally thank you for being a member of the best gearhead community in the world. Secondly I would like to ask that each of you invite 50,000 of your closest friends to join Hot Rod Time. If you can't pull off 50,000 friends, then how about donating 1, 2, 10 or 100,000 of them. Here comes the greedy explanation, our site has come to the attention of some great advertisers that would like to help sponsor HRT full time, with...
